What is Clueffy?

Clueffy is an independent browser word game. Each puzzle has one six-letter English answer, five guesses and five clues. Wrong guesses reveal more clues, while letter colors help narrow down the answer. This site publishes its own original puzzles.

How do I play the Clueffy game?

Read the first clue, type a six-letter word and press Enter. You can use your keyboard or tap the on-screen letters. A valid wrong guess opens the next clue. Find the answer within five guesses to solve the puzzle.

What do green, orange and dark letters mean?

Green means the letter is in the correct position. Orange means the letter appears elsewhere in the answer. Dark means that copy of the letter is absent. Repeated letters are checked against the number of times they appear in the answer, with exact matches assigned first.

When does the daily Clueffy puzzle reset?

The daily puzzle resets at midnight UTC, the same moment worldwide. The date shown beside the puzzle uses UTC. The countdown on larger screens shows the time until the next puzzle.

Where can I find today’s Clueffy hints and answer?

Open the Today’s Clueffy hints & answer section below the game. Three optional hints offer progressively more help, and the answer is hidden in a separate disclosure. These hints and answers refer to this site’s original daily puzzle.

Do hints affect my result?

Opening a hint during an unfinished daily round marks that round as assisted. Revealing the answer ends an unfinished daily round without a win. Shared results include the assisted label. Looking at help after completing the daily puzzle does not change that finished result.

Can I play more than once a day?

Yes. Practice mode draws from a rotating collection of 60 original puzzles. Words can recur, but consecutive new practice rounds do not use the same puzzle. Practice results do not affect your daily record.

Do invalid or repeated guesses use a chance?

No. A guess must be a six-letter word recognized by the dictionary or included in the answer bank. Wrong-length words, unrecognized words and guesses already tried in that round leave your remaining chances unchanged.

Are my scores and progress saved?

Clueffy saves submitted guesses, daily results, hint use and the current practice round in local storage in this browser. Unsubmitted text is not saved. There is no account or cross-device synchronization. Clearing website data removes the saved progress.

How does the streak work?

Your daily streak counts consecutive UTC dates on which you solved the daily puzzle in this browser. Solved rounds include those played with hints. Revealed answers and lost rounds do not count as wins. Practice rounds do not contribute to the streak.

Is Clueffy free, and do I need an account?

Clueffy is free to play in a modern web browser with JavaScript enabled. No account, payment or download is required. A connection is needed to load the website.

Is this the official site of another Clueffy game or ClueDay?

This is an independent game with its own puzzle bank. It is not affiliated with ClueDay or another publisher. We have not verified that a separately mentioned Clueffy game uses the same rules, and do not present our puzzle answers as another game’s official answers.

How can I get a Clueffy hint without seeing the answer?

Start with Hint 1 in the daily help section below the board. Open the next hint only if you still need help, and leave Ready for the answer? closed. Opening a hint marks an unfinished daily round as assisted. Revealing the answer is a separate action that ends that round without a win.

What should I try when I am stuck on the Clueffy answer?

Read all unlocked clues together and consider a second meaning of the words in them. Keep green letters in their known positions, move orange letters to other positions, and check whether repeated letters explain a dark tile. Try a six-letter word that fits both the clues and the board before opening another hint.

Why can the same letter be colored and dark in one Clueffy guess?

Each tile represents one copy of a letter. Exact matches are assigned first, then remaining copies are matched elsewhere. With the illustrative answer TURTLE and guess LETTER, the first E is orange and the second E is dark because TURTLE contains only one E. The keyboard shows the strongest known color for a letter; the rows show each copy.

Does everyone get the same Clueffy answer today?

The daily mode on clueffy.com selects the same puzzle for everyone on the same UTC date. Compare the date shown beside the board. Practice chooses a separate puzzle, so a practice word can differ from the daily answer.

Why does another Clueffy answer page show a different word?

Check that the answer is for clueffy.com, the same UTC date and Daily mode. A page may describe a different game, another date or a practice round. Use this site's live daily answer disclosure to check its current original puzzle; an old search snippet or an AI-generated suggestion is not verification.

Can I replay yesterday's Clueffy or browse an answer archive?

There is no date selector or public answer archive in the current game. Daily mode opens the puzzle for the current UTC date. Practice offers other rounds from the finite 60-puzzle bank, where words can recur, but it does not let you choose a past date.

Can I play the Clueffy game on my phone?

Yes. Open clueffy.com in a modern mobile browser with JavaScript enabled. Tap the on-screen letters or use your device keyboard to enter a six-letter word. On narrow screens, Show previous clues lets you revisit earlier unlocked clues. No app download is required.

Why does Clueffy say my word is not in the dictionary?

Guesses must contain exactly six English letters and appear in this site's dictionary or answer bank. A real word can still be missing from the game's word list. Try another six-letter word; a rejected word does not spend a guess. Repeating a word already submitted in that round also leaves your remaining chances unchanged.

Why did my Clueffy progress or streak disappear?

Progress belongs to this browser's local website storage. Switching browsers or devices starts with separate records, and clearing website data or using a private session can remove saved progress. Use the same browser and device and allow local storage. There is no account backup or cross-device recovery; streak dates use UTC.

How do I share my Clueffy result without spoilers?

After a round finishes, use Share result to copy the guess count and a colored grid. The text includes the daily date or practice label and an assisted label when applicable, but not the answer word. Paste it into the place you choose. If clipboard access fails, use the displayed text box to copy manually; the game does not post automatically.

How can I ask ChatGPT for a Clueffy hint without spoiling the answer?

Give the UTC puzzle date, the unlocked clues and each submitted word with its letter colors. Say that clueffy.com uses six-letter answers and five guesses, and ask for one reasoning hint without the answer or candidate words. Check any suggestion against the board. The game has no built-in ChatGPT connection, and an assistant's suggested answer is not a verified daily solution.

Does the Clueffy countdown limit my time to solve?

The countdown shows the time until the next daily puzzle at midnight UTC. It is not a separate timer for each guess. When the UTC date changes, Daily mode opens the new puzzle. Practice has no per-round stopwatch and does not change your daily statistics.
